Albert "Beto" Soto Hinojos, of Safford, Arizona, passed away on September 1, 2026, in Safford at the age of 95. He was born on May 15, 1931, in San Jose, Arizona, and lived a long life marked by faith, devotion to family, steady work, and service to others.
Albert attended high school and then went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. During his military service, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal. His years in uniform reflected the same sense of commitment and duty that would remain evident throughout his life.
After his service, Albert worked as a Flotation Operator for Phelps Dodge Mine, a role that spoke to his strong work ethic and reliability. Beyond his work, he gave generously of himself to his community. He coached little league in Miami, Arizona, and served as a Cub Scout Leader, offering guidance, encouragement, and example to young people and their families.
Albert found joy in life’s simple and lasting pleasures. He loved fishing and camping, and he was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren and family. He also took pleasure in being a skilled carpenter and using that to help others. As well as working in the yard or on his truck, the kind of hands-on pursuits that reflected both his energy and his care for the life he built.
His faith was central to who he was. Among the moments he held most dear was the day he accepted Jesus Christ into his life. He also counted among his greatest blessings the birth of his daughter and son, along with his grandchildren, and marrying the love of his life, Librada “Libby,” in Florence, Arizona, on November 12, 1954. Their marriage stood as a cherished foundation of his life.
Albert is survived by his beloved wife, Librada Ortiz Hinojos; by his daughter, Roseann (Mitchell) Palomino; and by his son, Albert (Carmen) Hinojos Sr., 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. The love he carried for his family was deep and abiding, and the memory of his presence will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew him best.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Palma Hinojos; his mother, Josephina Soto Hinojos; his brother Arturo Hinojos; and his sisters, Mage' Hinojos and Stella Hinojos Ortiz, and son in-law Mitchell Palomino. He now rests in the peace of the Lord he embraced so fully.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gospel Truth Church, 3616 US-191, Safford, Arizona 85546.
Albert Soto Hinojos will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love for Libby and his family, his service to his country and community, and the quiet, enduring strength with which he lived each day. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be treasured.
