With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Enriquez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on May 24, 2026, in Tempe, Arizona. Barbara was born on July 6, 1959, in Phoenix, Arizona, she lived a life marked by faith, love, and dedication to those around her.
Barbara’s journey was deeply rooted in her strong faith, a guiding light throughout her days. She found great joy in traveling, exploring new places, and embracing the beauty of the world. Known for her loving and caring nature, she devoted herself to her family and the community. As an Administrative Assistant for the City of Safford, Barbara’s commitment to serving others was evident every day. Her passion for cooking and her enthusiasm for watching sports, especially rooting for hometown hero Justin Gaethje, brought warmth and laughter to her loved ones.
A proud graduate of Morenci High School, class of 1977, Barbara’s proudest accomplishments were marrying the love of her life, Mario Oscar Enriquez, in Morenci, AZ, in February 1977, and the birth of their son and grandchildren. Family was the cornerstone of her happiness, and she cherished every moment spent as a devoted grandma, a role she embraced with immense joy and pride.
Barbara leaves behind her cherished husband, Mario Oscar Enriquez; her son, Mario (Andrea) Anthony Enriquez; and her beloved grandchildren Sean Enriquez and Leah Enriquez, who carried forward the light she so warmly shone. She also leaves her brothers, Fred (Maria) Barquin, Jim (Lisa) Barquin, and Ernie (Kim) Barquin, who remember her as a faithful and loving sister. Though affectionately missed by many, she is preceded in death by her parents, Alfredo and Amelia Barquin, and granddaughter Nevaeh Sky Enriquez.
A viewing and eulogy will be held on May 30, 2026, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Parish Church, located at 304 West 4th Street, Safford, AZ 85546. The community will then gather to pray the Rosary from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Barbara’s life and legacy. The day’s ceremonies will conclude with a burial service at Safford Cemetery, beginning at noon.
Barbara's enduring grace, unwavering faith, and boundless love touched everyone she encountered. Her memory will forever inspire those who knew her to live with kindness, strength, and heartfelt devotion. Though she has departed from this life, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of her family and friends, a beautiful testament to a life well-loved and well-lived.
