Sonnie Easley

Safford, Arizona

Carlita "Sonnie" Easley, born on January 20, 1948, in Morenci, Arizona, passed peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Safford, Arizona. A cherished presence in the lives of many, Sonnie was a radiant spirit whose love for family was the cornerstone of her life. As one of the finest homemakers, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to creating a warm and loving environment for her family, where laughter echoed and love thrived.

Sonnie graduated from Morenci High School in 1966, embodying the joy of youth and the promise of the future. On January 13, 1966, she proudly married Daniel C. Easley in Greenlee County, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that would span decades. Together, they built a life solidified by mutual respect, love, and comfort.

Her familial bonds extended beyond her husband; she was a devoted mother to her sons, Murl and Paul Easley, always there to offer wisdom and warmth. One of her delightful traits was the affectionate way she addressed her youngest son with a good-natured, “well stupid,” reminding him of her playful spirit that accompanied her love. Her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she was a source of encouragement and inspiration in their lives.

Sonnie's personality was a remarkable blend of affection and enthusiasm, always exuding warmth and laughter that touched the hearts of everyone around her. As she would often remind her loved ones, “I Love You,” she truly meant it, illustrating the depth of her feelings and the strength of her connections.

Surviving her are her beloved sons, Murl (Cory) Easley and Paul (Leslie Jarvis) Easley; her cherished grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of love. She is also survived by her brother, Teddy Johnson, her sister, Sue Tyson along with her brother Ronald White. Sonnie has been reunited with her loving husband, Dan Easley, and her parents, Murl Johnson and Floy Sharp Johnson, who welcomed her with open arms in the afterlife.

Heaven gained a remarkable woman the day she left us, a good soul whose spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched. As we remember Sonnie, let us cherish the array of memories she leaves behind, filled with laughter, love, and a commitment to family that will never fade.
