Danny "Wedo" Orante Abeyta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Danny O. Abeyta, on June 30, 2026, at the age of 86. A man of unwavering faith, Danny faced his final journey with courage and peace, knowing that he would soon be welcomed into God’s loving presence.  Although his passing came unexpectedly, we find comfort in knowing that his final week was spent surrounded by family, filled with love, connection, and precious moments of togetherness that will forever remain treasured in our hearts.

Danny was born on April 26, 1940, in Safford, Arizona. He lived a life defined by hard work, compassion, dedication, and love for his family. He was a devoted father who took great pride in caring for the people he loved and supporting them in all that they did. Whether it was school, sports, careers, or life’s many milestones, Danny was always there to encourage, guide, and celebrate his family’s accomplishments. He took a genuine interest in the lives of his children and grandchildren, often calling just to check on them, hear how they were doing, and remind them how much they were loved. Danny was a welder, heavy truck operator, and long-time barber by trade. He took great pride in his work throughout his life. He continued cutting his clients’ hair until the week of his passing, a testament to his strong work ethic, dedication to his craft, and the meaningful relationships he built over the years. His barber chair was more than a place for a haircut it was a place where friendships were formed, stories were shared, and people felt welcomed and valued. Many of his loyal clients and co-workers became lifelong friends and an important part of his extended family. Danny had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his quick wit and ability to come up with the perfect comeback that could make everyone laugh. He had a gift for bringing smiles to those around him, whether through a joke, a playful comment, or simply his warm personality.

Danny also had a love for golf, a game that brought him great joy throughout his life. Through golf, he made many lasting friendships and created countless memories with those who shared his passion for the game. The friendships he made along the way reflected the kind of person he was: someone who valued people, enjoyed life, and made those around him feel welcome. Danny lived a life filled with love, family, and the simple joys that made him who he was. He loved all sports and rarely missed the chance to watch a game, but nothing compared to his love for the Indianapolis Colts. A loyal Colts fan for most of his life, he proudly cheered for his team through every season, celebrating the victories and standing by them through the challenges. Danny leaves behind his loving children: Patty (Stan), Danny Jr., Gabriel (Mia), and Kim (Tim); his cherished grandchildren: TJ (Lacey), Cody (Ally), Nathan (Kayla), Kiana, Mia Rae, Angelina, Tristan, Rowan, Gia Olivia, Chloe, Ryder, Casey, Nickey and Sophie; his brother, Sonny; and his sister, Lydia (Vincent). His beloved dog, Sugar, who was a constant and loyal companion. He will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, lifelong friends, and loyal clients who became like family over the years. Danny touched the lives of many through his kindness, humor, generosity, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he met. He will be deeply missed at family gatherings, where his laughter, love of music, and enjoyment of dancing brought people together and created memories that will be treasured for years to come. His presence, his stories, and his ability to make those around him smile will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Juanita Abeyta; his grandson, Adam, whom he lovingly raised as a son and shared a special bond with; his sister-in-law, Eleanor Abeyta (Nonie); and many other beloved family members and friends. A Rosary will be held on July 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. A burial service will follow at Safford Union Cemetery. 

Following the burial, family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at the church to celebrate Danny’s life, share memories, and continue honoring the life of a man who was deeply loved. Danny’s love for laughter, kindness, and the example he set will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
