Derek Nozie, Sr.

Derek John Nozie, Sr., a cherished member of the Bylas community, passed away on April 11, 2025, in Peridot, Arizona, at the age of 38. Born on May 3, 1986, in San Carlos, Arizona, Derek lived a life filled with laughter, love, and memorable moments.

Derek will be remembered for his career as a fence crew member for the ranch, a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication. He graduated from Ft. Thomas High School in 2004, and soon after, he began to carve out a life that included his beloved hobbies. An avid outdoorsman, Derek enjoyed fishing, camping, skateboarding, and bike riding. His lively spirit was often ignited by jamming out to his favorite head-banging music, which reflected his vibrant personality.

A kind-hearted and quiet soul, Derek was also known for his helpful nature and cheerful demeanor. His humor brought joy to many, making him a beloved friend and family member who found happiness in simple moments spent kicking back with his loved ones.

He leaves behind his children, Derek Nozie, Jr., Rhayn Nozie, and Rhaynbow Nozie, who will carry on his legacy and fond memories. Derek is also survived by his mother, Gloria Nozie; his brother, Tim Nozie, Sr.; and his sister, Bonica Nozie. They, along with all who knew him, will cherish the moments spent together and the love shared.

Derek's passing is felt deeply by all, especially his deceased family members, including his father, Gilbert Nozie, Sr.; his brother, Gilbert Nozie, Jr.; his grandparents, Elmer and Lottie Nozie, as well as Vera Preston-King and Arthur Upshaw. Though he will be missed profoundly, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

A viewing will be held at the Nozie residence in Bylas on April 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Following that, a funeral service will take place at the Bylas Miracle Church at 10:00 AM on April 19, 2025, concluding with a burial at Navajo Point at 12:30 PM the same day.

Derek John Nozie, Sr. will always be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
