Elizabeth Hinton, a beloved respiratory therapist and a cherished member of the Safford community, passed away on July 11, 2025, at the age of 70, in her birthplace of Safford, Arizona. She was born on August 1, 1954, to Max Baker Hinton and Marianne Tidwell Rowley, both of whom precede her in death.
Elizabeth devoted her career to helping others breathe a little easier and find comfort in their most challenging moments. Her work as a respiratory therapist was not just a profession; it was a profound calling that she embraced with passion and expertise. Colleagues and patients alike revered her for her gentle demeanor, her capacity for compassion, and her unwavering commitment to improving lives. Elizabeth was known for her sweet and kind spirit, becoming a beacon of hope for those she served.
An alumna of Santa Cruz Valley Union High School, class of 1972, Elizabeth later attended Central Arizona College, Northern Arizona University & Biosystem Respiratory School, where she honed her skills and dedication to healthcare. Her professional journey flourished at the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, where her contributions were invaluable, and she also found a sense of community within the Safford Women’s Club.
Elizabeth's love for her family and friends was profound and unwavering. She is survived by her devoted siblings, Brenda (Shawn) Harvey, Marie Johnson (John Fitzgerald), and Max Tidwell (Anne) Hinton, who cherished their time together and countless memories made over the years. Elizabeth also leaves behind beloved nieces, Nicole (Thomas) Dupont and Mariah (Jose) Pinedo, as well as nephews Zachary (Czerina) Harvey, Cody Harvey, and Erickson Hinton, all of whom will carry her spirit forward in their hearts. She was a proud aunt of her great-nieces and great-nephews, including Charis Dupont, Elora Pinedo, Donovan Pinedo, Davin Dupont, Elias Pinedo, Charles Harvey, and Royce Dupont. The love she shared with her family was boundless, and they will forever remember her with affection.
In her quieter moments, Elizabeth was a devoted companion to her pets, Bentley, Zoey, Zack, Oliver, and Gigi, who brought her an abundance of joy and warmth.
A memorial service to honor Elizabeth’s life will take place on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the McDougal Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford, Arizona. All who knew her are invited to come and celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman. Elizabeth's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to know her.
