Evia Hale

March 18, 1935 — April 12, 2026

Evia Hale, known affectionately and lovingly as "Granny" by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, in Pima, Arizona. Born on March 18, 1935, in Claremore, Oklahoma, Evia's life was a tapestry woven with devotion, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to her family, a legacy that will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched.

Attending Pima Schools, Evia embraced her role as a wonderful homemaker with a grace and dedication that defined her life's work. Her proudest accomplishment was the family she nurtured and cherished above all else. "Always there for family" was not just a saying but a way of life for her, a steadfast presence and a comforting embrace to everyone she held dear.

Evia found joy in simple pleasures—family gatherings filled with laughter and love, trips to Disneyland that sparked delight in the eyes of her grandchildren, and visits to casinos where she relished the excitement and camaraderie. These moments reflect the spirit of a woman who lived fully and treasured the happiness of those around her.

Her beloved husband of 64 years, Emery Hale, preceded her in death, leaving behind a lifetime of shared memories and enduring love. She also bids farewell to her daughter Karen Hale, and her dear parents, Arthur Boydston and Emma Winfrey, as well as siblings Jessie Waldrop, Ollie Pratt, and Dovie Otte—all now reunited with her beyond this earthly realm.

Evia’s surviving family is a testament to the life she led and the love she gave so unconditionally. Her daughters Sharon (Tommy) Whitmire, Sandra (Bruce) Klajda, her son Emery Hale, and daughters Sheila Sawyer, and Lisa (Vince) Kieffer carry forward her legacy. She is cherished by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 6½ great-great-grandchildren—a remarkable lineage that embodies her spirit and values. Evia’s loyal companion, Daisy, also remains a loving reminder of her nurturing nature.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Evia's life at a visitation on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the McDougal Caldwell Funeral Chapel, located at 112 East Main Street, Safford, Arizona, 85546.
