Fern Hawkins Crandall, 90, of Safford, Arizona, passed away on January 23, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 4, 1927, in Ft. Thomas, AZ, to Abraham Lincoln Hawkins and Lillie Jane Palmer Hawkins. Shortly after her birth, her twin brother, Ferrill was born, they were the third set of twins born to Abe and Lillie. She married Stanley Burdette Crandall, on April 11, 1947, They later solemnized their marriage in the Mesa Arizona Temple, on February 19, 1955. S. Burdette passed away on April 3, 2005.
Fern was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in her many callings. She graduated from Thatcher High School in 1945. She loved to sew, she quilted many quilts, every child, grandchild, great grandchild, and great great grandchild, received a quilt, she loved woodworking, antiques, genealogy, and was an avid Phoenix Suns Fan.
She is survived by her children, Sue Dette Reed (Nolan) of Thatcher, Curtis Burdette Crandall (Sonja) of Pinetop, Ida Beth Schoolcraft (Glenn) of Safford, Bernadette Hollowell (Glenn) of Ft. Thomas, Cindy McEuen (Mike) of Thatcher, Leslie Crockett (Jon) of Safford, Abby McDonald (Alan) of Bisbee, Debbie C. Crandall, of Safford, and Lincoln Stanley Crandall (Elizabeth Renae) of Mesa;31 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, Pearl, Roxie, Beth, Madge, Boyd, Dial, Emert, Elvy, Don, Vant, Vearl, Ferrill (her twin); and a daughter Linda Johnston; a grandson, Dustin John Hollowell,and a great-grandson, Dustin Jeb Hollowell.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the Safford LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Palmer Goodman officiating. Visitation will begin prior to services beginning at 2 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
