Fidela Sanchez Ochoa

Fidela Sanchez Ochoa, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 24, 2025, in Thatcher, Arizona. She was born on October 21, 1935, in Sanchez, Arizona, and brightened the lives of everyone around her with her infectious laughter and remarkable spirit.

Fidela dedicated her life as a housewife, finding joy in caring for her family and serving her community as a hospital volunteer. Her nurturing heart extended well beyond her home; she was a steadfast source of support for those in need, always offering a helping hand and a warm smile.

Married to her late husband, Refugio Ochoa, in Solomon, Arizona, Fidela cherished the many moments they shared together, laughter being a constant thread woven throughout their lives. She had a knack for lightening the mood with her humor and quick wit, often saying, "when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade," and "it is what it is." These sayings not only reflected her outlook on life but also serve as a gentle reminder to cherish every moment and embrace life’s challenges with a smile.

Her legacy lives on through her children, Irene (Wally) Foote, Rosemarie Ochoa, Moses Ochoa, and Armando Ochoa. Each of them carries a piece of her vibrant essence, shaped by countless memories of her cooking, her love for early morning walks, and her joyful interactions with family and friends. Fidela's family expanded with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one holding a special place in her heart and her loving embrace.

Fidela is also survived by her loving siblings, Linda Vian, Raymond Sanchez, Beatrice Montez, Natalia Lozano, and Arnold Sanchez, who will forever keep her memory alive through the stories they share.

Though gratitude fills the hearts of her family and friends for the time spent with Fidela, they also accept the profound loss of those who have passed before her, including her parents, Mosies and Rosa Sanchez, her husband Refugio Ochoa, and her children Ruth (Phil) Merrill, Rocky (Sandi) Ochoa, and Paul Ochoa. Also waiting for her in rest are her siblings Flora Lafleche, Richard Sanchez, Seferino Sanchez, and Mary Escobedo.

A Viewing will be held on August 2, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at McDougal Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford, Arizona, followed by a Funeral Service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and a Burial at Thatcher Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

Fidela Sanchez Ochoa's indomitable spirit, love, and humor will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we gather to celebrate her life, we honor the legacy of joy and kindness she leaves behind.
