He was born on January 31, 1958, in Phoenix, Arizona, and spent his life thriving in the company of family and friends, making memories that would last a lifetime.
A talented landscaper by trade, Gilbert approached his work with the same enthusiasm he shared in his personal life. He had a knack for bringing joy to those around him, easily making friends wherever he went. His humor and playful nature made him a cherished companion, always ready with a joke to brighten someone’s day, and he had a reputation as a big flirt, charming those he encountered with a twinkle in his eye. His favorite quote, "I have a dollar," often served as a humorous prelude to countless stories that would leave listeners in stitches.
Gilbert took great delight in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time by the lake, where the tranquility of water mirrored his easygoing spirit. An avid fan of yard sales and swap meet shopping, he relished the thrill of the hunt, often returning home with treasures and stories to share. He was proud of his family and considered his greatest accomplishments to be his children and grandchildren, for whom he had an immeasurable love.
He leaves behind a close-knit family who will always cherish the memories of his laughter and kindness. His children, Sara Marquez, Crystal Ruiz, and Gilbert Ruiz Jr., along with nine adoring grandchildren, were the lights of his life. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Catherine Hernandez, Mercy Amaro, Virginia Olguin, Barbara Aragon, Cecelia Cervantes, Ysidro Aragon Jr., and Orlando Aragon.
Gilbert reunites with those he has lost, including his parents, Joe Maria Flores Ruiz and Mary Frances Bivens, as well as his brothers, Joseph and Ricky Ruiz, and sister, Vickie Benavidez. Though their absence is deeply felt, their memories will continue to bind the family together.
