Glen Lee Dowdle, age 76 of Safford, Arizona entered into eternity June 13, 2024 at Haven of Safford. Glen was born June 28, 1947 in Provo, Utah to Max Robert Dowdle and Harriet Leona West Dowdle. He joined two older brothers Arthur and Don.
He grew up in Orem, Utah and graduated from Orem High School. Glen served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission. The last place he served was Carthage Jail, he liked to tell people he spent the last six months of his mission in jail. After returning home, he got his Bachelors Degree in geography From BYU (forever a fan). He taught school in Farmington, New Mexico for one year, then returned to BYU and received his Masters Degree in library science.
Glen married Melinda O'Hara in 1974. They had two children, Michael and Meagan. After several years as foster parents, and wanting more children they added Kristina and Katherine to their eternal family. During those years Glen worked in libraries in Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. He then ended up at the Safford City-Graham County library in 1991. After 25 years of marriage, Melinda passed away of cancer in 1999, leaving him with two young daughters to raise.
In 2001, he met and married Teri Palmer. Glen was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served many years as a Ward Clerk and other callings. In later years he enjoyed working as a Temple worker in the Gila Valley Temple. He enjoyed that work and the many new acquaintances he made there. He was saddened when his health necessitated, giving up his temple work.
Glen was proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife Melinda, his brother Don, and his son Michael. He is survived by his wife Teri, daughters Meagan (Anthony), Kristina (Kim) and Katherine, grandchildren Jaxon and Piper, as well as his brother Arthur.
Services were held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Safford Stake Center with interment in the Thatcher Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel & Gila Valley Crematory located at 112 E. Main Street, Safford, Arizona. 928-428-1740
