James Whitmer

James Benjamin Whitmer Jr., 80, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife, Beckie, by his side, on November 12, 2023, in Central, AZ. Ben was born November 21, 1942 to James Benjamin Whitmer Sr. and Ruth Cheney Whitmer. He grew up in Central, AZ, attended and graduated from the Thatcher Schools. After graduating high school, he served in The Eastern States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and later attended Arizona State University. Ben was a lifelong farmer and businessman. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by his seven children, Kent (Kimberly) Whitmer, Bret (Lisa) Whitmer, Kristi (Lars) Anderson, Mendy (Neil) Smith, Jenifer (Garrett) Jackson, Shara (John) Garrett, Dane (Rachael) Whitmer, 25 grandchildren, and one great grandson. Also 3 step children and eight step grandchildren. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Whitmer, and brother Cordell Whitmer. Interment will take place in the Old Central Cemetery in Central, Arizona. Services will be held at 3pm Friday December 1st 2023, at the Old Central Cemetery, in Central, Arizona. Arrangements are being cared for by McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel located at 112 East Main Street, Safford, Arizona 85546 (928) 428-1740
