Jeane Lunt

December 2, 1946 — June 5, 2025

Jeane Lunt, a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Virden, New Mexico. She was born on December 2, 1946, in Prove, Utah, and her journey began in a loving home where she would eventually become a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her.

A graduate of Duncan High School in 1964, Jeane was not just a bright student but someone who carried her enthusiasm for learning throughout her life. After high school, she married her eternal sweetheart, Nelson Lunt, in the Mesa Arizona Temple on September 5, 1967. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Jeane dedicated a significant part of her life to serving within the Duncan Schools district office, where her warm smile and caring nature touched the lives of many. Her spirit of service extended beyond her career; she was an avid supporter of her family’s pursuits and passions, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Family was at the heart of Jeane's world. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Nelson Lunt, along with her children: Craig and Cheryl Lunt, Cristi and John Brimley, Curtis and Christal Lunt, Kevin and Katrina Lunt, Bryant Lunt, Stacey and Jacob Bigler, and Bradley Lunt. Jeane was a proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren and cherishes three great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.

Jeane also had a close bond with her siblings, surviving members Diane and Harold Chase, Grant and Deborah Nelson, and Dale and Laurie Nelson, who will remember her warmth and affection fondly.

Throughout her life, Jeane embraced her hobbies with passion; she spent countless hours doing genealogy, sewing, and crocheting. Her creativity and dedication to these interests showcased her love for family history and the handmade gifts she provided, which will be treasured by her loved ones.

Jeane was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Myrtle Nelson, her sister Janell Nelson, and her granddaughter, Avery Jane Brimley. Each of them was an integral part of her story, and their memories remain etched in the hearts of the family.
