Jose Gomez Delgado, born on October 31, 1950, in Morenci, Arizona, brought warmth, joy, and energy to everyone who had the blessing to know him. He passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, in Safford, Arizona, leaving behind a family and community that cherished his vibrant spirit.

Jose’s life was defined by laughter and love. Known for his infectious sense of humor and boundless energy, he filled every room with a spark that invited smiles and drew people together. He was a passionate man, fond of the simple pleasures—there was nothing he enjoyed more than relaxing with his beloved Novelas and western shows. The rhythm of music called to him, and he never missed an opportunity to dance, his joy shining through in every step.

But Jose’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his family. He found deep fulfillment in the lives and happiness of his children and grandchildren, always taking time to celebrate their achievements and milestones. His children, Christopher Ramirez, Jose J.D. Delgado Jr., Elisa Delgado Provencio, Martin Delgado, Crespin Contreras, and Javier Delgado, will remember him as a constant source of support and laughter—a father whose presence lit up their lives and whose counsel and stories will echo in their hearts.

Jose’s legacy lives on through his 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, each one a precious thread in the tapestry of the family he loved so dearly. In their laughter and stories, his spirit will continue.

Jose is also survived by his mother, Elisa Gomez. The memory of those who have passed before him—his mother Elisa Gomez, father Donato Delgado, sisters Sylvia Cruz, Francis Alday, Irma Rodriguez, Lucy Delgado, Deliah Hernandez, Mary Sanchez, brothers Loccario Hernandez and Donato Delgado, and step-mother Guadalupe H. Delgado—will forever be honored alongside his own.

To honor and celebrate Jose’s remarkable life, a viewing will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McDougal Caldwell Funerals & Cremation, 112 E Main St, Safford, AZ 85546. A funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM.

Though Jose Gomez Delgado’s laughter, energy, and grace will be profoundly missed, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His was a life well-lived, defined not just by years, but by the joy he brought into every single day.
