Julia C. Alva, a woman whose life was woven with threads of love, protection, and generosity, passed away on March 28, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on September 3, 1942, in Morenci, Arizona, and raised in the close-knit community of Clifton, Arizona. Julia’s journey was marked by a radiant spirit that touched all fortunate enough to know her.
From her earliest days in Morenci, Julia embraced life with a warmth and friendliness that made her a beloved presence. Her voice, always ready with a kind word or a lively conversation, echoed the talkative nature that endeared her to her friends and family. She carried a loving heart—one that gave freely without hesitation, making the values of kindness and care the axis around which her life revolved.
Julia dedicated many years of her working life to the Clifton School District, where she served in the cafeteria until her retirement. It was there, in the simple joys of daily service, that she found fulfillment, nourishing not only bodies but spirits through her ever-giving nature.
Her passions were as varied as they were vibrant. An avid lover of bingo and the excitement of the casino, Julia also cultivated her love for gardening, cooking, and cruising—activities that brought her joy and connection to the world around her.
Yet, the crowning achievements of Julia’s life were her family. On June 27, 1970, she married David P. Alva, the love of her life, beginning a partnership that would stand the test of time. Together, they built a legacy defined by dedication and affection. Julia cherished each moment watching their children grow, then nurturing their own families, delighting in the births of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, proudly counting seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren among her loved ones.
Her family remains her living testament: her devoted husband David Alva; her children, Irene (Jeremy) Alva, David (Dalia) Alva Jr., and Gloria (Michael) Webb; her sister, Cecilia Cruz; and countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward her spirit of love and care.
Julia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ruperto and Serapia Cruz; her siblings Ruben Nunez, Manuel Cruz, Maria Cruz, Rosalio Cruz, Lucia Garcia, Teresa Cruz, Ester Cruz, and Luiz Cruz; and her great-grandchild, Evrett Harper Harnish, whose memories remain etched deeply in the hearts of those who knew them.
