Katy Holguin

Katy G. Holguin, 85, of Safford, passed peacefully with her daughters at her side on November 20, 2014 in Safford, AZ. She was born October 18, 1929 in Safford to Ralph and Jessie Garcia. She married Mike Holguin on April 27, 1951 and to this union four daughters were born. Katy was born in Graham County and was a long time resident of Safford where she graduated from Safford High School. Katy worked at Bellmans Department Store and JC Penneys while raising her four girls. She later opened the doors to her dress shop on Main Street, Katys. She enjoyed her dress shop where family, friends and loyal customers would gather for almost 25 years. Katy was a caregiver to many of her family members who preceded her in death. After retiring, she enjoyed gardening and shopping, but especially loved traveling to Sedona, Chandler and Tucson to spend time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her surviving family includes her two daughters, Becki (Glen) Polcyn of Sedona, and Judy (Dean) Richins of Tucson; three granddaughters, Micah (Greg) Snodgrass, Jenny (Chris) Dobson and Paris Polcyn; one grandson, Grady (Chantel) Polcyn; nine great-grandchildren, Allison, Ava, Warner, Miller & Grayson Dobson; Tate & Tyler Snodgrass; and Presley Polcyn. She is preceded in death by her husband Mike Holguin; her sister Emma Salazar; her two daughters, Diane and Jessie Holguin; and her great-grandson Chandler Dobson. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 9:30 AM. The Rosary will follow at 10:00 AM and the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM with Reverend Father Robert Rodriquez officiating. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
