Kezia Marie O'Donnell, née Lanham, passed away on April 28, 2026, in Safford, Arizona, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to her family and community. Born on April 13, 1957, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Kezia’s journey began far from the Southwest where she would later make her mark as a cherished educator and beloved matriarch.
Kezia graduated with distinction as the second in her class from Kotzbeu High School in Alaska in 1975, a reflection of her early dedication to learning and personal excellence. She carried this passion forward to the University of Arizona, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1979. Her academic achievements set the foundation for a career devoted to nurturing young minds across the Gila Valley, where she was honored twice as Graham County’s Teacher of the Year. Her impact on the educational landscape was profound, characterized by her commitment to her students and her ability to inspire growth and confidence in every classroom she entered.
Her proudest accomplishment, however, was not in the accolades she received but in the life she built with the love of her life, Patrick Thomas O'Donnell, Jr. The couple’s marriage on August 17, 1982, in Tucson, Arizona, was the beginning of a lifelong partnership and family rooted deeply in love and mutual respect. Together, they raised three sons—Ryan P. O'Donnell, Kevin S. O'Donnell, and Geary E. O'Donnell—each a testament to Kezia’s nurturing spirit and boundless love.
Kezia’s life was deeply entwined with the people she loved. She was the devoted daughter of Viola G. Lanham and the late Delbert G. Lanham, whose memory she cherished. Her family meant everything to her, and she immersed herself in the joy of her four grandchildren, with another eagerly awaited, her excitement and pride a constant source of strength and happiness. Her home was also graced by the companionship of Ginger, her beloved dog, who was a steadfast friend in her later years.
Her passing, described by those close to her as heartbreaking, leaves a void filled only by the enduring love she nurtured within her family and the countless lives she touched through her teaching and kindness. Kezia’s legacy is one of devotion—to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and all who had the privilege to know her.
As we say goodbye to Kezia Marie O'Donnell, we remember a woman who lived fully and loved deeply, a teacher who changed lives not just through her lessons but through her example. She will forever remain in the hearts of Patrick, Ryan, Kevin, Geary, Viola, her grandchildren, and all who were blessed to call her family and friend. May her memory be a comforting light in their lives and a source of inspiration for us all.
