Larry Peters, a loving husband, devoted father, and proud patriot, peacefully departed this world on July 18, 2025, at his residence. He was born on January 26, 1947, and spent his formative years in Ephrata, Washington, where he graduated from Cheney High School in 1966. His life was marked by an unwavering commitment to family, service, and faith.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army, joining in California in 1967. His time in the military shaped his spirit and deepened his love for God, family, and country. After being honorably discharged in 1969, Larry embarked on a fulfilling career at Freeport McMoRan, where he worked diligently from 1983 until his retirement as a Senior Infrared Technician in 2017. His dedication to his work was only matched by his passion for sharing the lessons learned throughout his life.
Throughout his years, Larry kept busy with myriad projects, always finding time to lend a helping hand. Whether it was building a house for his mother-in-law or assisting widows from his church, he embodied kindness and generosity. For over 30 years, he was an active member of the Church of Christ in Morenci, where he contributed his talents to various remodeling efforts. Larry was never idle; he cherished moments spent fishing, engaging in meaningful conversations about the Bible with those he loved, and sharing stories from his work life.
Larry's warmth and laid-back demeanor endeared him to all who crossed his path. He was a reliable friend and confidant, someone whose trustworthiness was appreciated by all. He had the unique ability to connect with everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
On February 8, 1980, Larry married his beloved spouse, Linda G. Baskin, in Spokane, Washington. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. Larry was a proud father to his daughter, Lindsay Cook, and son, Lucas L. Peters, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his cherished children, Lindsay and Lucas; and his siblings: Ruth Spurbeck, Ruby Peters, Pete Peters, Burl Peters, Pearl Russell, Philip Peters, Mary Ellen Albertson, Grace Coates, Tim Peters, Annie Stadtmueller, and Landon Peters. He also leaves behind two brothers-in-law, Lane Cook and a host of dear friends who will miss his presence dearly.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert A. Peters and Dorothy Bault Peters; his sister, Viola Russell; and brothers, Richie Peters, Gary Peters, and Kenneth Peters. The memory of Larry's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of service, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to be touched by his life.
