Madeline Verhoest

Madeline Grace Verhoest, born on November 15, 1920, in Newark, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, in Safford, Arizona, at the age of 104, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

A devoted caregiver throughout her life, Madeline embodied kindness and generosity. She was known for her deeply caring nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her gentle spirit was complemented by her rich Italian heritage, which she celebrated wholeheartedly. She often delighted family and friends alike with her culinary prowess, claiming to make the best spaghetti in the world, affectionately referring to it as "macaroni" and inviting all to join her at the table with a warm and inviting "Manjia." These precious memories are forever etched in the hearts of her loved ones.

Madeline's education culminated in her high school graduation, after which she served her country with honor as a surgical technician in the United States Army from May 7, 1945, until November 30, 1946, during World War II. Her dedication to her country was just one part of her multifaceted life. Beyond her military service, she found joy in playing bingo and visiting casinos, activities that brought her laughter and camaraderie.

Madeline is survived by her loving sons, Robert Verhoest and Edmond Verhoest, as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. She took great pride in her family, standing as a cornerstone of their lives, always the caring nurturer and supporter, instilling in them the values she held dear.

Among her proudest accomplishments was serving as the Grand Marshal in the 2024 Veteran's Day Parade, a moment that symbolized both her military service and her deep connection to the community.

Madeline is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved father, Sam Bisogno; her mother, Maria Ferrandino Bisogno; her son, Eugene Verhoest; and her ten siblings, who have contributed to the rich tapestry of her life.
