Safford, Arizona

Manuel M. Chacon Jr., affectionately known as Manny, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 70. Born on May 29, 1955, in Morenci, Arizona, he grew to become a beloved member of his community, known for his warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for his family.

Manny devoted his life to the art of concrete masonry, a career that not only highlighted his strong work ethic but also his creativity and dedication. He took great pride in his work and was truly passionate about building lasting structures, much like the enduring love he fostered in his personal life.

A proud graduate of Pueblo Colorado class of 1974, Manny’s education laid the foundation for his skilled trade. Throughout his life, he gathered many interests that showcased his adventurous spirit. He loved motorcycles, spending time in the great outdoors, hunting, and fishing. These passions brought him immense joy and were often shared with loved ones.

Manny is remembered as a loveable individual who always had a smile on his face and a hearty laugh that could revive any gathering. He found his greatest happiness in the company of his children and grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his growing family - a legacy of love that will continue through them. Manny leaves behind his beloved children: Naomi (Jimmy) Armijo, Mark (Tiani) Chacon, Landyn (Steven) Shortridge, and Leah Pena. His joyous spirit lives on through his 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who will always remember their grandfather for the endless support, laughter, and the wisdom he imparted.

He is also survived by his father, Manuel Chacon Sr., and his sisters, Arlene (Bill) Thomas, Susan (Kevin) Tegmeyer, and Sylvia (Marco) Zaragoza. Each of them has their memories of Manny etched in their hearts, carrying forward the love he shared so freely.

Manny was preceded in death by his loving mother, Olga A. Martinez, whose guidance and nurturing shaped the man he became. His absence will be deeply felt, yet his legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service will be held to honor Manny’s life on November 15, 2025, at The Way in Safford, Arizona. Friends and family are invited to gather from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, as they come together to share stories, reminisce, and celebrate the beautiful life of a remarkable man who touched so many hearts.
