Obituary

Margaret J. Whitmire, known fondly as Margie to those closest to her, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in her hometown of Safford, Arizona the very place where her remarkable journey began on March 7, 1960.

Margie’s life was rooted in Safford, and through the decades, she became a steadfast beacon for her family, friends, and community. Those who were lucky enough to know her remember her as a woman with an indomitable spirit strong, hardworking, brave, and above all, loving. Her kindness was both simple and profound; Margie would always go out of her way to help a friend in need, often putting others before herself, and her presence had the power to comfort and encourage.

She poured her dedication into her work as a Transload Manager with S&S Mining, earning respect and admiration for her commitment, reliability, and integrity. Yet, for all her professional achievements, Margie’s proudest accomplishments were in her roles as a mother and grandmother—roles she embodied with an unmistakable grace and unconditional love. She was, in every sense, the best mom and gramma in the whole world, and it was the birth of her daughter and her grandson that filled her heart with the deepest pride and joy.

For Margie, home was not just a place but a feeling she created for those she cherished. She loved being at home, enveloped by its warmth and comfort, alongside her beloved little dog, Jack, whose companionship brought her endless delight.

Today, Margie is survived by her daughters Amber (Jason Ray) Olsen, Brandy Schnepf, whom she loved as her own, her cherished grandson Adam James Ray, who also held a special place in her heart. Her loving memory is carried on by her brothers Wayne (Wilma) Whitmire and John (Kathy) Whitmire, and her sister Cathy (Ernest) Whitmire Dillman.

Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lita Whitmire, whose values and love she carried forward.

As her family, we will forever treasure her memory, her laughter, the warmth of her hugs, and the unwavering strength she gave us through both life's joys and its challenges. We find comfort knowing that Margie’s legacy lives on in the kindness she inspired, the lives she uplifted, and the love she so freely gave.

Margaret J. Whitmire’s journey may have come to rest, but her light remains, shining on in the hearts of all who loved her.
