Obituary

Maria Cazares, 78, of Safford, Arizona, passed away on July 30, 2026, after a short illness. Born on May 27, 1948, in Tecoman, Colima, Mexico. Maria was the daughter of the late Primitivo Solano Sanchez & Ramona Cruz de Solano. She was a mother to three sons; Jose (Roberta) Lopez, Carlos (Lori) Lopez & Hector Lopez.

In 1977, Maria made the bold decision to relocate from Mexico to California with her three sons, where they remained for two years. In 1979, the family moved to the Morenci/Clifton area and then settled in Safford in 1986. Maria held various jobs in Morenci/Clifton to support her family. After moving to Safford, she worked at Sonic for several years, then spent 28 years at Walmart in the garden center until her illness. She prided herself in rarely calling in sick and ensuring the garden center at Walmart was immaculate.

Maria lived a simple life. She loved her home, her morning coffee, going to yard sales, and visiting with her friends. She found deep peace in creating a spotless, perfectly organized environment; everything in her home had its place. She had a profound love for her family and dedicated her life to creating a warm, welcoming home for all who entered. She would often say her biggest blessings came in the form of grandchildren. She had seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and another baby girl on the way. She always said she had no money for herself, but when the grandkids were around, she had all the money in the world for toys and treats.

Maria is survived by her sons, as well as her sisters, Rosa Maria & Berta Lorena, and her brothers, Silvia Concepcion, Carlos Javier, and Albert Saul. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Irma, and her brother Primitivo. May she rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord, knowing that her love will continue to guide her family for generations to come. "She sought no spotlight, required no praise; her wealth was her family, her joy was their days."

A small graveside service will be held at the Safford Cemetery beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 8th, 2026. The family extends their sincere gratitude to everyone for their calls, expressions of sympathy, and unwavering support during this time of loss. We are deeply grateful to Beehive Assisted Living Home for the compassionate care you gave Maria throughout her illness. Your kindness and support meant so much to our family during this difficult time.
