Nam Thi Hughes, née Nguyen, passed away on September 25, 2026, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 76. She was born on August 10, 1950, in Saigon, Viet Nam, and her life carried her from her birthplace to the family and generations who became her enduring legacy.

She enjoyed gardening, listening & watching Vietnamese music.  Nam is specially proud of coming to America and becoming a United States Citizen, and marrying the love of her life John A. Hughes in August of 1974.

Nam was preceded in death by her father, Van Ba Nguyen; her mother, Thi Da Vo; her husband, John A. Hughes; her siblings, Van Chau Nguyen; and Van Phuong Vo. Their memories remained part of the story of her life, and she now rests reunited with those who went before her.

She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to carry her memory forward. She is survived by her children, Christina (Jason) Currey, Richard (Lean) Hughes, Lester (Marriann) Hughes, and Catherine Hughes. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jason, Derek and Courtney, Kyle and Hannah, Jordan and Nicole, Nathan, Haden, Braelon, Gretchen, and Max Hughes, whose lives stand as a lasting reflection of the family she cherished. Her legacy extends as well to her great-grandchildren, Gage, Chloe, Tate, Warner, Rowen, Graham, Taij, Rehl, Jovi, and Raea.

Nam is also survived by her siblings; Thi Toi Nguyen, Thi Mao Nguyen, Thi Le Nguyen, Thi Tuyel Nguyen, Van Ba Nguyen, Thi Hong Nguyen, and Thi Ngoe Nga Nguyen. Each of them remains part of the family circle that shaped her life and shared in her journey across the years.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance at a visitation on October 4, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McDougal Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 East Main Street, Safford, Arizona 85546. A graveside service will follow that same day from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Thatcher Cemetery in Thatcher, Arizona 85552.

Nam Thi Hughes will be remembered with love for the family she nurtured and the generations who follow because of her. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and remain a blessing in the hearts of all who loved her.
