Norlene Robinson

January 23, 1934 — September 8, 2025

Pima, Arizona

Norlene Weech Robinson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 8, 2025 in Safford, Arizona.  She was born on January 23, 1934 in Pima, Arizona.  Norlene often expressed gratitude for her happy childhood.  She loved playing with her brothers and sisters.  She especially loved going to Columbine on Mt. Graham.  She would often tell how the family would take off for the mountains as soon as school was out and not come down until it was time to start school again.  She loved Mt. Graham all her life.  She would share this love with her children and later with her grandchildren.  They all have stories to share about being with Grandma on her mountain.

Norlene married Lyle Robinson from Thatcher on October 19, 1953.  Lyle passed away on January 1, 2021.  They had been married for 67 years.  They had six children.

Norlene studied secretarial training and business/bookkeeping at EAC.  She used that training for the various jobs she had including the secretary at Pima Schools, Town of Pima Clerk & Magistrate, and secretary at EAC. She also worked for the US Post Office as a rural route mail carrier.

Norlene was very active in the community.  She had a talent for putting together events for any size crowd.  She could often be found decorating weddings, leading choirs, planning town events and celebrations, church activities, parades, and family reunions.  She helped organize the Pima Centennial Celebration.  She was so very proud of the children's choir that she directed.  She loved it when one of the children, now all grown up, would tell her how much fun the choir was.

Norlene found that she had a knack for decorating weddings and did this for many couples her in the Gila Valley.  Her granddaughter would say about her grandmother that she could do anything with a little ribbon and a glue gun.

Norlene loved her grandchildren.  She loved taking them to the mountain, feeding them, teaching them songs, and going for rides in her mail jeep.  They all loved going to grandma's house.

Norlene was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, their daughter, Lynne, and her grandson, Jacob Johnson.  She is survived by her children, Colleen (George) Rocha, David (Jolynn) Robinson, Lisa (Eddie) Norton, Lori (James) Mark, and John Robinson, 15 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A memorial for Norlene will be held  on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 10:30 with a viewing beginning at 9:00. This will be held at the Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pima.  Burial will follow in the Pima Cemetery.
