Patsy Aguilar, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, in Safford, Arizona. Born on November 29, 1937, in Clifton, Arizona, Patsy was the embodiment of warmth and love, cherished by all who had privilege to know her.
A dedicated employee of the Safford School District, Patsy worked in the cafeteria for many years, nourishing not just the bodies but also the spirits of countless children. Her witty sense of humor and fiery personality made her a beloved figure, filling the hallways with laughter and affection. An accomplished cook and baker, she was known for her delicious meals that brought family and friends together, creating memories that will live on in many hearts.
Patsy's life was a tapestry woven with love, compassion, and a hint of ornery charm. Married to Jesus Aguilar on September 30, 1955, she was exceedingly proud of their family, which blossomed under her care. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jesus Aguilar, and her loving children: Nancy Mitchell, Angel Aguilar, Ruby Aguilar, David (Janie) Aguilar, and Tammy Lopez. Patsy found joy in her large family, which includes 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren who will carry her legacy forward with fond memories and love.
Patsy cherished her siblings, Annie, Gilbert, and Manuel, Jr., who will deeply miss her vibrant spirit. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Manuel Loya and Petra Perez Loya, as well as her sisters Elva and brother Richard, all of whom she held close in her heart.
As a graduate of Clifton High School, Patsy lived a life filled with steadfast faith, often finding solace in her favorite scripture, Psalm 23, which echoed the strength of her spirit and the depth of her compassion. Her orneriness was a delightful trait, one that always kept loved ones on their toes and made everyday interactions an adventure.
Patsy's services will be a time to celebrate the remarkable life she lived. A Rosary will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford at 9:00 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 AM. As we gather to honor her beautiful life, let us remember her laughter, her love for cooking, her unyielding spirit and the indelible mark she has left on all our lives.
In her final days, Patsy reminded us all of the importance of family, joy, and the small moments that make life extraordinary. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever guide and inspire us, instilling within us the same warmth and love she so freely offered throughout her life. Rest in peace, dear Patsy; you will be missed beyond words and loved forever in our hearts.
