Rita Jean Taylor (née Walton), born on October 2, 1942, in Buckeye, Arizona, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, in Safford, Arizona. She was 83 years old.
Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Taylor, and her daughter, Dawna Taylor. She is survived by her loving family: Allen Preston (Kim), Wes Preston, Lisa Norton (Brady), Terri Dominguez (Mike), and Kim Loya. Rita's generosity and warmth extended far beyond her immediate family; she opened her heart and home to many individuals who came to think of her as Mom or Grandma.
Throughout her life, Rita found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. She loved camping trips to the lake or the mountains, where she could immerse herself in nature's beauty. Her visits to Tombstone reflected her appreciation for history and adventure. Rita also enjoyed reading and indulging in the occasional trip to the casino.
Rita's legacy is one of love and generosity. She touched countless lives with her open heart and welcoming spirit. Those who knew her will forever remember the kindness she shared so freely.
May Rita's memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on May 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at McDougal Caldwell Funeral Chapel located at 112 E Main St. Graveside services will follow at Gila Valley Memorial Gardens.
