Robert Zamora Carillo, a beloved man known for his gentle spirit and lighthearted nature, passed away on April 25, 2026, in Duncan, Arizona. Born on August 29, 1953, in Morenci, Arizona, Robert touched the lives of everyone who knew him through his warmth, kindness, and ever-present humor.
Robert's story began in the small community of Clifton, where he grew up surrounded by family and friends. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1972 and furthered his education at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. Throughout his life, Robert was admired for his dedication and skill as a Lube Technician at Phelps Dodge in Morenci, Arizona, a career that reflected his hardworking and dependable character.
Affectionately called "My Bobby" by those close to him, Robert was known as a gentle giant—considerate, kind, and loving. He was always a jokester, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. A happy man with a lighthearted spirit, Robert found joy in simple pleasures, particularly enjoying time on his iPad or watching his favorite shows. He also had a fondness for antiques and anything old, embracing the charm and stories found in the past.
Among Robert's proudest accomplishments was marrying the love of his life, Rosemary Carillo, in Clifton, Arizona, in 1979. Their union brought profound happiness and companionship to his life. He cherished the birth of his daughter, Yesenia Carillo, as one of his greatest joys, and treasured the moments spent playing and bonding with his numerous nieces and nephews, whom he adored dearly.
Robert's family remains a testament to the love and care he nurtured during his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosemary Carillo; his brothers Armando (Rosie) Carillo and Adolph Benavidez; and his sisters Lisa (Tom) Medina and Christy Pena. They, along with his many nieces and nephews, carry forward his memory and the legacy of his tender heart.
While Robert was blessed with a close-knit family, he also endured profound losses: his beloved daughter Yesenia Carillo, and his parents, Manuel and Luciana Garcia, who predeceased him. Though these separations were deeply felt, Robert's spirit remained resilient, always ready to share a kind word or lighthearted joke with all who crossed his path.
A memorial service to honor Robert’s life will be held on May 15, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at East Gate Church, located at 800 SE Old W Hwy, Duncan, Arizona 85534. Following the service, friends and family will gather at Duncan Valley Cemetery for his burial beginning at 11:30 a.m., continuing until 12:30 p.m. This gathering will allow all who knew Robert to pay their respects and celebrate the extraordinary man he was.
Robert Zamora Carillo leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and love—a truly gentle giant whose esteemed presence will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved him. His kindness and loving nature, the nickname "My Bobby," and his warm smile are memories that will forever comfort those who had the privilege to know him.
