Rosa Martin, lovingly known to many as Rosa Herrera Martin, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Duncan, Arizona on July 12, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on November 27, 1943, also in Duncan, Rosa’s roots ran deep in the community she cherished throughout her life.
A devoted daughter to the late Doroteo Herrera and Josefa Pena, Rosa built her life on the foundation of love, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to family. She was preceded in death not only by her beloved parents but also by her son David Herrera, her grandson Nicholas Bazemore, and her siblings Jean, Olivia, Lita, Frank, Cathy, Maria Alicia, Irma, Pat, Louis, Fidel, and Nena. Though the loss is keenly felt among those who remain, solace can be found in the thought that she is now reunited with her parents, siblings, son, grandson, and cherished niece and nephews.
Rosa’s life was defined by the warmth she radiated to those around her and her unwavering loyalty to loved ones. She is survived by her loving daughter, Evonne Bazemore, her son, Brian Martin, and her devoted brother, Robert Herrera. A proud grandmother and great-grandmother, Rosa leaves behind grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who brought immense joy and meaning to her days.
Rosa’s spirit was generous and open-hearted. She would help anyone in need, never hesitating to lend a hand or a comforting word. Her honesty was legendary—she spoke her mind, for better or worse, but always made it clear just how deeply she cared. The three words that capture the very essence of her life are “love for family.” This enduring love shaped every relationship, every act of kindness, and every sacrifice she made over the years.
Some of Rosa’s fondest memories were made traveling to Wyoming to visit her grandchildren—a meaningful chapter of her life that filled her heart with happiness and pride. At home, she found joy in the simple pleasures: an afternoon spent fishing, tending lovingly to her garden, or the excitement of visiting a casino. Her favorite saying still rings in the hearts of the family she left behind: “There's no place like home!”—a sentiment that guided her, and a legacy she imparts to the next generations.
As we bid farewell to Rosa, we celebrate the extraordinary impact of her presence among us and the many lives she touched. The family takes comfort in remembering the laughter, tough love, and boundless generosity that Rosa brought into the world. Her memory will continue to flourish in the stories retold, the lessons remembered, and the love that binds her family together.
Rosa Martin will forever be missed, remembered for her honesty, her generosity, and above all, her profound love for her family.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 am, at the Duncan Cemetery, following a luncheon.
