Ruth Dorrine Clawson

February 1, 1941 — August 31, 2025

Tucson, Arizona

Ruth Dorrine Clawson was born on February 1st, 1941. Her parents were Willie Ruth Meyer and Daris Lee Harbuck. She was born in Seguin, Texas on a cold winter night. But that did not dampen her spirit or love of life and family. She grew up on farms with chickens and a bull named Domino. She treated the Bull as a pet; he allowed himself to be curried with a comb by Dorrine.

Dorrine graduated High School in 1959. This love at first sight started a dating romance that developed into a 68-year marriage. He asked her to marry him prior to leaving for college Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. The proposal for marriage was a shock to her. She had to think about it. She later agreed and they married on June 6, 1959.

They began this married love affair spanning 68 years. They loved each other from 1957. This love bore her 4 children. Adam was born in El Paso, Texas. Timothy was born in Chillicothe, Ohio. Jonathan and Ronda were subsequently born in Tucson, AZ.

Dorrine made many friends from many parts of the world who worked at DOD, Army, Air Force and Boeing Corporation. She was very supportive of Ronald and the uprooting jobs he took. Adam stayed in Tucson, while the family was in Turkey. She dearly loved her family. The separations were difficult for her.

All the time the family moved to and lived was enabled by a strong, loving Mother and Wife. Ronald could not have lived such a good, wholesome life without the love and care of a strong, moral Mother who loved her family and friends. Many of her friends considered her a true sister whether located in Canada, Turkey or the USA. The family activities of visiting locations in Graham Mountain, California Disneyland, and other trips around and about in Arizona were the highlight of family reunions and vacations. Family and friends who came to visit and stay awhile were always grateful for the kindness and hosting that they received.

Dorrine cared for her Mother Willie Ruth, as chief caretaker, until her death on April 12, 2017. Such love and devotion to immediate family, her father, her daughter and then her mother can’t be matched.

Dorrine fought sickness and pain for many years. Two knee replacements, one hip replacement, and One shoulder had been replaced. There were no complaints from her.

August 31st at 9:15 am she succumbed to a very serious cancer. At the end she was grateful for the care and love she received from family, caretakers at Tucson Medical Center and the Peppi's Hospice. When she could not talk, she wrote on paper “Thank You’ to the family and caretakers in the last days. Her love, her courage, and strength will never be matched.

Dorrine is gone from this earthly time to a joyous reunion with her beautiful daughter, her parents Daris and Willie, her cousins, and aunts, her friends and people she met and befriended on this plane of existence. I can’t imagine the joyous smiles, hugs she has found again in Paradise where she will stay awhile until she regains her complete and well body, and until she goes to her place in heaven, with her loving Heavenly Father, who I know is well pleased with her mortal life here on earth.
