Sallyanne Skinner, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in her hometown of Thatcher, Arizona. Born on January 31, 1940, she was the light in the lives of those who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity.
A proud homemaker, Sallyanne dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She was an embodiment of happiness and humor, always choosing to greet each day with a smile. Her artistic spirit manifested in her cherished hobbies of painting and singing, which brought joy not only to her but also to those lucky enough to witness her talent.
Sallyanne was a proud graduate of Thatcher High School, class of 1958. Her greatest love story began when she married the love of her life, Jared Bruce Skinner, on June 13 of the same year in Mesa, Arizona. Together, they built a family filled with love and support, cherishing each moment with their three children—Jared Wade Skinner, Kristi (Steve) Carrell, and Ron (Lori) Skinner. As a mother, she was fiercely proud of her children, often reflecting on her greatest accomplishments as the family they created together.
In her later years, Sallyanne found immense joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She delighted in creating memories with each of her eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, always ready with a funny story or encouraging words. Her favorite saying, "It's a good day to have a great day," was a mantra she lived by and imparted to those around her.
Sallyanne is survived by her loving children and grandchildren, along with her sisters Linda Norton, Kathryn Mullenaux, and Deanna (Wayne) Damron. In the hearts of all who knew her, she will be remembered for her unfailing positivity, her laughter, and her artistic creations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Erdine Layton, and two beloved brothers, Gail and Robert Layton, and late husband Bruce Skinner. With the passing of Sallyanne, the family has lost a radiant beacon of love, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched.
