Sandra Jean Dixon, known lovingly as Sandy, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Catron, New Mexico. Born on September 22, 1964, in Duluth, Minnesota, Sandy’s life was a testament to unwavering strength, kindness, and a fiercely loving spirit. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the hearts of all who knew her with her vibrant personality and generous heart.
Sandy’s journey began in Duluth, and her formative years were marked by her graduation from Flowing Wells High School in 1982. Her career flourished as a retail team lead at Walmart Supercenter, where she demonstrated both leadership and genuine care for her colleagues and customers alike. However, it was not only her professional accomplishments that defined her, but the warmth and love she extended to her family and community.
Her life’s three words—“I love you more more more!”—capture the essence of a woman who lived with an open heart and an unyielding passion for those she cherished. She was feisty, strong, and kind-hearted, with a creative spirit that came alive in her hobbies, such as making cups and shirts and her many crafty endeavors, which brought joy both to herself and those around her.
Sandy’s proudest accomplishments were deeply rooted in her family. She married the love of her life, Bruce Dixon, on March 16, 1985, in Tucson, Arizona, a union that was the cornerstone of her life. Together, they nurtured a loving home filled with laughter and countless milestones that marked the growth and achievements of their children and grandchildren. She held every milestone involving her kids and grandkids close to her heart, embodying a heart of gold that made everyone feel like family.
She leaves behind Bruce Dixon, her devoted husband; her children, Melissa (Brandon) Arrellin and Kyle Dixon; and a large and loving extended family that includes her sisters Sharon Fitzsimmons and Bernie Burch, as well as her brother Steve Fitzsimmons. Sandy’s legacy also lives on in her ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom felt the deep affection and support she offered unconditionally.
Sandy’s journey was not without pain, having lost her beloved son Bruce Alan Dixon and grandson Damien Dixon, as well as her parents Less and Ann Fitzsimmons. Yet through these profound losses, her spirit remained resilient, inspiring those around her to cherish every moment and value the bonds of family above all.
A memorial service to honor Sandra Jean Dixon will be held on March 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The River Community Church, located at 1726 S. 1st Ave. (Highway 191) in Safford, Arizona. It will be a time to gather, remember, and celebrate a life lived fully and lovingly.
