Sylvia Mazon Romero, a beloved sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, passed away on January 23, 2026, in Glendale, Arizona, at the age of 66. Born on December 23, 1959, in Phoenix, Arizona, Sylvia embodied the spirit of her surroundings, living a life rich with affection, compassion, and kindness.
Raised in a close-knit family, she attended Lowell School until 1973, where her outgoing personality began to shine. Her cheerful disposition led her to a successful career as a Sales Representative in retail. She carried her strong will and giving nature into her professional life, where her authenticity touched countless lives. Sylvia’s mantra, always reminding those around her to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," illustrates her deep commitment to treating people with respect and kindness.
Sylvia will be fondly remembered for her many interests that brought joy and creativity into her life. She had a passion for sewing, gardening, scrapbooking, and an amazing cook. She loved to cook for her family as family was very important to her especially during the holidays. Sylvia loved music and really loved to dance, she also enjoyed traveling and recently fulfilled one of her bucket list items of riding on a train. Each hobby allowing her to express her artistic side and connect with loved ones through personalized gifts. Her talent in house decorating turned her home into a warm and welcoming haven for family and friends alike.
Beyond her interests and profession, Sylvia was particularly proud of her accomplishments in athletics, reminiscing about the trophies she earned as the fastest runner in grade school. Those wins were a testament not just to her talent but to her relentless determination. Her faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was number one in her life as she instilled her love and faith into each and every family member.
Sylvia's legacy will endure through her many cherished family and friends. She is survived by her beloved siblings: Sammy (Karen) Romero, Gloria (Cornelio) Loera, Rosemary (Richard Salas) Romero, Roseanna Romero, Jerry Romero, and Lisa Leyvas. Her companionship with her cherished dogs—Ginger, Cherish, Stevie, Angel, Cutie, Smokey, and Noah—reflected her loving and nurturing spirit.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her nephew, Daniel Jesus Leyvas Jr., her sister Arlene Provencio, her mother Natalie Mazon Romero, her niece & nephew Danielle & Richard Romero, her father Robert Sanchez Romero, her great niece, Samantha Rose Provencio, her sister Barbara Ann Romero, her grandmother Rosa G. Mazon and her brother Robert Sanchez Romero, Jr. Each shared special moments with Sylvia that will forever be etched in their hearts.
Her journey in this world, marked by her strong yet compassionate demeanor and vibrant spirit, will be celebrated with a funeral service on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church of Safford at 11 a.m., leading to her burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Morenci.
Sylvia Mazon Romero leaves behind a legacy of love that will echo through the lives she touched. Her vibrant stories, warm laughter, and unwavering support for her family and friends will forever serve as a guiding light in their lives. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as someone who truly embodied the spirit of giving and connection.
