Terry Jane Burgess, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at the age of 77 in Willcox, Arizona. Born on December 30, 1947, in Safford, Arizona, Terry was a shining light in the lives of those who knew her.
A proud graduate of Safford High School in 1965, Terry spent most of her career as a dedicated secretary in the ranching industry. Her work ethic was matched only by her personality; she was known for her honesty, diligence, and punctuality. Friends often spoke of her as the nicest person there is — someone who never hesitated to tell it like it is. Her directness was paired with warmth, making her a confidante to many.
Terry cherished family above all, taking immense pride in her two children, Austin "Ty" McEuen and the late Brandon Warren McEuen. In her heart, she carried the treasured memories of marrying the love of her life, Jack Dean Burgess, in Bonita, Arizona, in July 1987. Together, they shared a bond that would surely last a lifetime, and Terry's love for Jack remained unwavering even after his passing. She is survived by her son Ty, as well as her grandchildren, Haley Mora and Brandon McEuen, and her great-granddaughter, Reese Mora, who brought her so much joy.
Throughout her life, Terry embraced various passions that filled her days with happiness. Whether she was tending to her garden, creating stunning mosaics, or enjoying trips to the casino, she approached her hobbies with the same dedication she showed in everything else. She loved to travel, often seeking out fishing spots up north where she could enjoy the tranquility of nature.
Terry was known for her favorite sayings that embodied her resilient spirit: "It is what it is" and "It's not how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up." These words serve as a testament to her strength and the love she instilled in her family. Terry would want her legacy to be one of perseverance, love, and sincerity.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Erlene Godfree McNair, her husband Jack Dean Burgess, her siblings Colleen Mires, Butch McNair, and Sherrill LaRoque, along with her beloved son, Brandon Warren McEuen, and Meredez McEuen.
Terry’s memorial service will be held on September 12, 2025, at McDougal Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford, Arizona, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. As we gather to celebrate her life, we will remember a woman who was not only a wonderful mother and grandmother but also a cherished friend to many.
