Tristan Ja'shon Nozie, born on April 10, 1998, in Safford, Arizona, passed away tragically on March 5, 2026, in Bylas, Arizona. In the quiet shadows of a life lived with gentle humility and spirited playfulness, Tristan’s presence was a tender force felt deeply by those who knew him. His passing leaves a profound silence, echoed by the memories of a man who carried within him the soft warmth of laughter and the steady comfort of his simple phrase, “Chill out.”
Raised in the halls of Fort Thomas schools, Tristan was a figure of a quiet, shy demeanor, often revealing his goofy side in moments of joy and connection. He found delight in scooters and skateboards, BMX bikes; the rhythmic bounce of basketballs and footballs, and the peaceful solitude of camping and fishing. He was a son of the outdoors and of youthful exuberance, a free spirit tied to the land and water of Arizona.
Tristan’s career as a laborer in the Freeport Mine was marked by earnest dedication, yet it was in his role as a father that he achieved his proudest accomplishments. His cherished children, Mateo Ja'shon Nozie and Alaia Ann Nozie, were the lights of his life, the center of his world. Those who witnessed him with his kids saw not only a man but a loving protector and an eager playmate, whose delight in their laughter was boundless. To play with his children was to glimpse the beating heart of Tristan’s joy.
Family was both legacy and anchor for Tristan. The living who carry forward his spirit include his mother Bonica Nozie, a pillar of strength; his brother Juwan Nozie, a constant companion on life’s journey; and his beloved son and daughter. Their lives are indelibly marked by the love he freely gave. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Gilbert K. Nozie, Sr., and uncles Gilbert K. Nozie, Jr. and Derek J. Nozie, Sr., whose memories live within the family's collective story—stories now shadowed with loss but brightened by remembrance.
Services to honor Tristan’s life will begin with a visitation at the Nozie residence, Highway 70, Bylas, Arizona, on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 4:00 PM. The following day, Saturday, March 21st, a funeral service will be held at First Miracle Church, also on Highway 70 in Bylas, from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Finally, Tristan will be laid to rest at Navajo Point Cemetery in Bylas, with burial proceedings starting at 1:00 PM.
In the echo of his absence, those who loved Tristan remember him for the quiet strength beneath his gentle exterior and the goofy grin that would break through to light up a room. His love for his children, his passion for the open air and adventures on two wheels, the calm wisdom wrapped in his signature phrase—all remain imprinted on the hearts of family and friends. Though his life was cut short, the imprint of his spirit endures, a testament to a humble man who loved fiercely and lived simply under the wide Arizona sky.
Tristan Ja'shon Nozie’s story is one of quiet courage, everyday joys, and a love unmeasured in words but shown abundantly in actions. May his soul find peace as those who remain honor his memory by holding tight to the love he so freely gave, carrying his spirit forward with each "Chill out" whispered into the Arizona winds.
